Pachuca UFC '96 National Cup X Regional Champions
The Pachuca UFC ’96 won the U-14 Premier Group at the National Cup X Regionals in Richmond, VA. The tournament was held June 25-28, 2011. The team went 3-0-1 (10:6) in route to its championship. The team defeated Team America ’96 (VA) in penalty kicks in the final match. Winning the regional title qualifies the team for the National Cup X finals in Boise, Idaho on July 29 – August 1.
U16 Pachuca Green Dragons Win State Cup
The U16 Pachuca Green Dragons are the 2011 U16 Maryland State Cup champions!!. The team defeated the Baltimore Bays Blues 1-0 and now advance to the 2011 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships. The tournament will take place at Classics Park Soccer Complex in Manheim, PA from June 30 – July 5. The Dragons were State Cup finalists in 2008 and 2009.
Three Pachuca Players Recognized by TopDrawerSoccer.com
Three players from the U16 Pachuca Dragons received notable recognition this week. Trey Cooper, Mike Eppler, and Sam Summerlin were named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Mid-Atlantic team of the month. The honor goes to players to watch from clubs from the Mid-Atlantic Region (Maryland, Virginia, DC, Delaware and West Virginia) and recognizes top performers in the region across the span of age groups.
Pachuca Teams Earn Success at Columbia Invitational
The Pachuca UFC ’96 (U14) and ’99 (U11) were finalists in the Columbia Invitational Memorial Day Tournament. The U14 UFC ’96 team were finalists in the top Premier flight losing in the championship match to SAC United Premier. The U11 UFC ’99 were finalists in the top Gold flight losing in the championship match to FASA Elite. The tournament was played on May 28-30, 2011.
Coach Bruno Joins Pachuca FC USA
Coach Jim Bruno has joined the Pachuca Futbol Club USA, as the Director of Women’s programs. Jim has been a leader in the area’s soccer community for over 30 years. In 1994, he was named the Washington Post’s All-Met Coach of the Year and in 1998 was named the National Private School Girl’s Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He was named the Maryland Coach of the Year in 2002, 2003, and 2009. He holds the Premier Diploma and Goalkeeping Diploma I from the NSCAA. Currently, Jim is the Head Coach of Girls Soccer at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. Under his direction, Good Counsel has made the NSCAA’s “national top 25 teams” 11 of the last 15 years, holding down the #1 spot during the 2000 season. Jim also coaches other girl’s soccer teams in the area.
10-year old Pachuca Player Courted by Top Euopean Clubs
Ten-year old Patrick Cassagnol is being courted by AC Milan, Valencia CF and FC Barcelona. He is currently wowing Pachuca FC USA, where club president Julio Zarate knows he has something special. "The only thing I can say is, I saw Freddy Adu when he was younger; I really believe he has the makings to be better," said Zarate, who has coached club soccer in Maryland for more than 15 years. "This kid’s a natural. He has things you cannot teach." Read more here.
Pachuca Gets Results at Disney Soccer Showcase
Two Pachuca teams travelled to Orlando, FL for the Disney Soccer Showcase. The tournament, played from December 27 - 30, 2010, has been rated as the #1 youth soccer tournament in the U.S. in a Soccer America survey. The U15 Dragons and the U16 Dragons both did exceptionally well against tough competition. The U15 Dragons were quarterfinalists in the Copa flight and went 2-2 (scoring 4 goals and allowing 4). The U16 Dragons won the Copa flight after going 3-1 (scoring 9 goals and allowing only 3). The U16 Dragons are now ranked 23rd in the nation by Gotsoccer.com as a result of their strong finish.
